Uni-Safe Electronics - Bridge Navigation Watch Alarm System (BNWAS) BW-800
Consilium's Uni-Safe Electronics BNWAS is developed in accordance to IMO MSC 128(75) and in compliance with IEC 62616 and MED. For the purpose of monitoring the bridge activity and detect irregularities and operator disability.
The purpose of a BNWAS Bridge Navigational Watch Alarm System is to monitor bridge activity and detect operator disability which could lead to accidents. The system monitors the awareness of the Officer of the Watch (OOW) and automatically alerts another qualified OOW or the Master if for any reason the OOW becomes incapable of performing his duties.
This bridge surveillance is achieved by an elaborate series of indications and alarms to alert first the OOW and, if he is not responding, then to alert another senior officer or the Captain. Additionally, the BNWAS may provide the OOW with a means of calling for immediate assistance if required.
The BNWAS should be operational whenever the ship's heading or track control system is engaged, unless inhibited by the Captain.
Maritime Safety Committee (MSC) will require carriage of a BNWAS Bridge Navigational Watch Alarm System complying with IMO performance standards.
